How to check whether your contact form actually works
Form markup is only part of the journey. Check submission, confirmation and inbox delivery on your own business website.

A visible form is not proof of delivery
A contact form can appear on a page while its server, mail configuration or spam filter prevents enquiries reaching your team. An HTML checker can identify some form markup and an insecure action URL. It cannot prove that clicking Send creates the right message or delivers it.
Run a controlled test on your own website
Use a real address you control, enter a unique test reference and submit a brief message labelled as a test. Do not include sensitive data. Note the time, page URL and confirmation shown. Test only forms you own or have permission to use; avoid repeated submissions that could disrupt someone else’s inbox.
Check both sides of the conversation
Look in the business inbox and spam folder for the unique reference. If the form promises a confirmation to the visitor, check that too. Reply to the received enquiry and confirm that the response reaches the address you entered. A successful on-page message without the enquiry in the inbox needs investigation.
If an enquiry does not arrive
Ask your website provider to inspect the submission and mail logs for that test reference. Confirm that the recipient address is correct and the sending service is configured for the domain. Do not publish logs that contain customer information. Repeat the controlled test after a fix, including on a phone if the form behaves differently there.
Run a free HTML and link sample, then review the findings with your website provider.
